The following text is from Chad Austin's post to Rennlist last week. I met Chad at this DE through a mutual acquaintance, Mark Litherland, also of the Peachstate PCA. We hung out all weekend, compared 968 notes, and dominated the others in the first run group. Hope you enjoy Chad's take. More later.

Many thanks to Mark for taking these photos.

First of all a couple things. One, many thanks for the great advice from
the Rennlist instructors. Two, for those of you new to the DE/ track
experience, prepare to immerse yourself in an incredible experience!

Roebling Road in Savannah, GA is a 2 mi. road course with very little
elevation changes. However, the course itself is tricky to navigate. But,
once your lines are established, it is serious fun. If you are interested
here is the Raceway's site: http://www.roeblingroad.com/

The experience was, well, AWESOME! My initial instructor was not very
good. He didn't express a very good feeling of confidence and I got rather
anxious trying to get information out of him to learn the course. Not to
mention he was 2 laps late for my second run. Needless to say I changed
instructors. My second, was great! She was very helpful in showing me what
I wanted to learn. And, she said that I did so good through the course I
was ready for Group 2! Yeah-buddy!

As for ego...none. In fact I feel a bit humbled. I simply had a great time
learning what the limits my 968 could handle.

Summary...leave your big head at home with your installed knowledge of
'driving.' You don't know anything. And definitely be prepared to enjoy a
TRUE driving experience.

I will have a summary that is more in depth after I get a chance to gather
my notes. I will post a little later on in the day.

20001202roeblingde_00.jpg (58639 bytes) Yours truly preps for his first run. Note the high-tech number on the rear window (thank gosh for racers' tape).
20001202roeblingde_0102.jpg (46414 bytes) Chad and I in line for run 1. I cropped the car between us. We ran 1/2 for much of the afternoon.
20001202roeblingde_03.jpg (41063 bytes) This photo made the home page of the Peachstate PCA. It was cold and rainy, but oh so fun.
20001202roeblingde_05.jpg (59960 bytes) After my first run. Note the shit-eating grin. My gosh that was fun!
20001202roeblingde_06.jpg (79833 bytes) Greg and Chad discuss the finer points of, well, I don't know. Either cars or women.
20001202roeblingde_07.jpg (57977 bytes) Chad just finished adding the white X's to my headlamps. The car looked pretty good! That's Mark's bad-ass 914 next to my 968.
20001202roeblingde_08.jpg (96150 bytes) Chad and Blake examine Blake's rocket-fast Honda. He destroyed much of the competition that weekend, including two factory SuperCup cars and a 2001 996 Turbo.
20001202roeblingde_10.jpg (52606 bytes) The journey home, from Mark's pickup. Since I had the Valentine 1, I led us through bacon-infested areas.
