Don's recap:

Guys and Gals,

Thanks for all your compliments but without everyone getting in their beautiful 968's (with the threat of heavy rain and thunderstorms) and driving up to 14 hours to get to our 968 Celebration - there would not have been a Celebration!  My thanks to Tom Provasi and Manny Alban for joining us and conducting a very professional wash & shine judging. Thanks to Ray for developing, maintaining and improving his outstanding 968.net website.  Thanks to Dom Miliano from Excellence Magazine for spending 2 days with us 968er's. Thanks to Bob Adams for risking his life on a shaky ladder and taking some outstanding pictures of the group. Finally, thanks to Elke (my wife) for putting up with me for the last 10 weeks while we made this happen and John, my son, who prevented my car from being a submersible 968 during the thunderstorm.

RECAP
-  Total of 37 cars participated in the 2 day 968 Celebration!

-  30 Cars made it to the Hotel early enough to be judged by Tom and Manny

-  Winners of the awards were: Rimas Balsys (Tech Quiz), Dan Davies (Farthest Distance - 900 miles from Appleton, Wisconsin), Rich Tokar (Least Miles 7,140 see - someone does have less than me - and a Strosek Evolution too), Sreedhar Krishnan (Most miles - 138,000), John McCarter (Most Modified - 968 Turbo S!), Chris Onulak (lst Place - Cabriolet), Bob Adams (2nd Place - Cabriolet), Andy Slusar (3rd Place - Cabriolet), Don Hassenbein (lst Place - Coupe), Scott Fisher (2nd Place - Coupe) and Margie Becker (3rd Place - Coupe).

-  Names of attendees;  Bob & Tina Adams, Manny Alban (PCA Zone 2 Rep), Michael Baley (Pres PCA Central Pa Region), Rimas Balsys, Margie & Jim Becker, Andrey Belov, Ron Cannizzaro, David Chou, Jeff & Gregory Coe, Dan Davies & Rachel Popke, Damian DeBlis, Mike & Rose Dix & their 2 children, Steve & Christine Lefler & 2 children, David Downey & Steve Smith, Scott & Patti Fisher & their 4 children, Joe & Jennifer Hanuscin, Don (PCA 968 Register co-advocate), Elke, John & Sue Hassenbein, Bob Hickman, David Kloth, Sreedhar Krishnan, Pat & Lisa Lippo, Ben Loquasto, John & Jan McCarter with 2 children, Mike & Vincent McCormack, Bill & Mark McCullough, Chris Mitchell & child,  Bill & Louise Miles, Dom Miliano (Excellence), Dick Minesinger & Don Osborne, Doreen Moran, Ricardo Oliveira, Chris Onulak, Tom Provasi (PCA HQ Secretary), Bill & Marylynn Roe, Andy Slusar & Debbie Nuttall, Ray Starbird (968.net guru) & Melanie Allgood, Jo-Ann & Roger Stephenson, Dave & Jane Thomas, Rich Tokar and Liz Kile, George Vassos, Steve Vincze, Brian & Melanie Wilson, and Scott Woehr.

-  For those 30 that had their cars judged by Tom Provasi and Manny Alban (by the way, you can now say your car has been judged by the best judges in the country), I will be mailing the judging sheet to you with the latest updated copy of the 968 owners Roster. I will also send a copy of updated Roster to the other 7 owners, Tom, Manny, Michael and Dom.

-  I would like to straighten out any confusion about becoming a member of two different 968 groups; the 968.net Registry (Ray Starbird and 968.net are not affiliated with PCA, although Ray is a member) and the PCA 968 Register (Dick Petticrew is advocate and I just recently became co-advocate). I believe most everybody who attended 968 Celebration has joined Ray's great website. However, Ray, Margie Becker, Jeff Coe, Damian DeBlis, Dick Minesinger and I are also members of the PCA 968 Register and would like you to join us. Again, I  request that each of you go into the Porsche Club of American web site and 1) although the majority of us were PCA members, I request that the other folks sign up as PCA members - I think the benefits that Tom mentioned are valuable - not to mention the discount at the Dealer) and 2) go to the PCA Register portion of the website and enter info (you will need your Chassis Serial Number and Engine Serial Number) in order to become a member of the PCA 968 Register. [The $42 yearly PCA membership fee will be the best $42 you've ever spent on your Porsche! -Ray]

Don Hassenbein

A lot of you, including me (I bought a rare Saratoga Sun Roof) bought goodies at the Swap Meet and I believe these vendors have now learned their lesson - bring more 968 goodies next year or face the wrath of the red shirts!

Start Me Up

Thanks for the sign, Rich!

I had some wiring harness issues somewhere in NC; here's my best MacGyver impression

The lineup at Burger King for Friday lunch. Don lead us 30 miles through town to this spot.

Great shirt on Andrey Belov!

Dan Davies' gorgeous coupe. Many of us tried to swap with him, but neither he nor Rachel would bite.

Melanie inspecting Mike Dix's efforts. Thumbs up!

Ben Loquasto shining his cab (same colors as my first 968... sniff, sniff).

Joe Hanuscin puts the finishing touches on his beauty.

John, Lizzy, and the awesome PowerHaus Turbo S.

Turbo S again.

Kids loved my car 'cause I was the only one not concerned with it getting dirty.

Fast friends.

"Mom, Dad, stop cleaning!"

One of the group shots, with Don and Elke in front.

Note the sunken emblem on Ben's early '92 cab...

... and the flat numbers (good catch, Jeff Coe).

Bob Adams' terrific group shot.

Banquet

Don kicks off the banquet...

... to a focused audience. That's Jeff & Gregory Coe to the left in the front row.

Brian Wilson and George Vassos share strategies for winning the tech quiz.

The tech quiz. 50% correct won, I believe.

It took some time to complete.

Lizzy and Joel McCarter.

David Thomas poses for his mug shot.

Tom pointing out the benefits of front-engined, water-cooled cars.

Your truly receiving a beautiful Tiffany clock from the gang. Thanks Don and Damian!

Swap Meet

The lineup at the Swap Meet (couldn't fit 'em all in one shot)

Another shot of the lineup.

Not many 968 parts, but 911 and 356 owners had much to dig through.

Melanie Wilson took a break from the excitement to catch up on some reading.

Steve from Ottawa drove through the night, and caught some shuteye whenever he could.

Melanie had to put up with me, so she needed lotsa sleep, too.
