Jeff, you're absolutely right. I went out and checked and sure enough 9/91! Thanks again for setting me straight on this. In hind sight, I should have checked the VIN sticker a long time ago and would have realized the error made. Who…

Ian, Yeah, that is not correct. Take a look at the door jam VIN sticker on your drivers door. In the upper right hand corner of the sticker is your build month and year. It should read 9/91. That is when the car was built. Jeff

Jeff, the production completion date on my C.O.A. says Jan. 23/92. Do you think it's actually wrong? Based on what you know it seems that it is. Ian

Glad to help Ian, Yeah, Porsche starts each series/year with VIN #61 so NS840061 is the first cab for 92. I had a january 1992 built cab before my current one and it did not have the recessed hood. They made the changeover sometime in November of…

Ian, another unusual thing about your car is the hood. Notice the recessed hood badge. Only the first few hundred cars made during the first two months have this unique feature. My car has it. My car is #9 in the production run. Your car is #96 of 2,008 in total.

Ian,

I run the 968 registry and have a full database with all the cars including yours. I was puzzled by some things but your last note answered my questions. First off, all US 968 cabs came standard with the rear seat delete/double glove box unit. The only North American 968s that came with rear seats are the canadian cars. Some, myself included, have added the rear seats as it is an easy modification but they weren't that way from the factory. The US had the new 3-point lap belt laws coming into effect and Porsche didn't want to fit the cab with the 3 point belt so we got the glove box unit instead. Now, what confused me about your car was the seats. I have in my registry that not only did your car come with dual heated seats but they were also sport seats (option code 383/387). Looking at your interior I could see they were just the standard seat but now that you told me that you thought they were switched at the sale that explains it. It goes to show you what a dealer would do to sell a car!!! Still, your COA should have listed the sport seats in addition to the dual heated seats. Also, I'm sure you know the 17" wheels were added. Great looking car.

I've seen the car before. I saw it listed on .net back in 9/05 with 10K miles on it. Is that where you purchased it? What options are listed on the COA?

Thanks

Jeff
