 I just buy the best I can afford. I do not race, so I do not need the highest performance tire.

My 6-speed has Yokohoma S drive which were on the car when I bought it, my tip and 951 has Sumitomo HTZ ii.

I purchased a set of Toyo Proxes 4.  So far so good.  No complaints.  Have about 3k on them so far.

I also have Yoko S Drives on my 6 speed coupe, and before that had used Kumho Z rated's of some sort.  The Yoko's are quiet on the highway and sticky in the autocross corners.   Kumhos were a bit less $ but they stopped making the right size in a Z rated, if I remember correctly.  Hope you found something you like!

I also noticed that although I bought the same size tires in the Sumitomo brand as Yokohama, the Sumis appear to be narrower than the Yokohama's and the Sumi's are really noisy. So noisy that I thought there was a bearing problem until I changed back to the stock rims with different tires.
